2012  New Acura NSX Specifications
Acura chose Detroit to unveil its mid-engine hybrid NSX sports car, the 2012 Acura NSX concept car. Honda confirmed that although branded a ‘concept’ at the Detroit motor show, they fully intend to put this 2012 Acura NSX concept model into production, so the hype can begin now for future potential owners. The 2012 Acura NSX is slated to be built in Ohio and features the super hybrid all wheel drive system that Honda has pioneered.

Styling wise, the new Acura NSX combines sporty and exotic design cues into a single package, some may even say that certain elements remind of BMW’s i8 hybrid sports car. If you’re looking for Honda contract hire in the meantime, then now is the time to get in before the 2012 Acura NSX release date comes by.

You would not be alone in thinking the new 2012 Acura NSX concept car looks achingly beautiful and is a bold step by the manufacturer to the potential theme all Honda designs could follow. The 2012 Acura NSX was a crowd pleaser at the motor show with journalists, photographers and the motoring elite all trying to grab a piece of the action, and stealing a lot of focus from other new models at the show.

Honda is describing their new 2012 Acura NSX concept as, “the ultimate expression of synergy between man and machine”. There were earlier plans to base a future NSX on a powerful V10 engine, but those ideas have since been quashed under Honda’s pledge to environmental responsibility.

We can expect to see the same combination of rear wheel power and a mid-mounted V6 engine in the 2012 Acura NSX. Honda are also hinting that the Acura NSX model could even be hybrid too, with twin 27bhp motoring powering each of the front wheels.

The 2012 Acura NSX SH-AWD will control the power output of a direct injected V6 engine driving the rear wheels with two electric motors driving the front wheels. The torque from the electric motors (either negative or positive) is to enhance the 2012 Acura NSX handling. The 2012 Acura NSX will utilize a DCT gearbox in conjunction with the SH-AWD.

There undoubtedly will be changes from the 2012 Acura NSX concept car when the NSX enters production. And the 2012 Acura NSX approach to the hybrid drivetrain is different than BMW’s with the i8. No horsepower numbers or acceleration figures were mentioned, but look for this2012 Acura NSX to be a quick eco-gen sports car.

A new generation for the Audi R8 2012

The Audi R8 is the German automaker’s current top of the line model based on the Le Mans Quattro concept car. Thanks to lightweight aluminum construction the mid engine super car weighed in at under 3,500 lbs when it was introduced in 2006. The original 4.2 Liter FSI V8 powered car made 420 HP and 320 lb-ft of torque sprinting the four wheel drive dream machine from 0 to 60 MPH in 4.4 sec, through the quarter mile in 12.8 sec at 113.2 MPH and up to 187 MPH while an updated version will offer a Lamborghini 5.2 Liter V10 making 520 HP and 390 lb-ft of thrust and gets to the 60 MPH mark in only 3.9 seconds and all the way up to 196.4 MPH. The road car is named after the LMP1 endurance race car that won the ALMS title from 2000 thru 2006 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 2000 until 2005 only to be beaten in 2003 by a closed roof version from VW family member, the Bentley Speed 8.

The facelift version of the R8 should be showing its face in the Summer 2012, but Audi has even bigger fish to fry at the moment. A new generation for the R8 sports car is currently under development and will use the latest advanced construction techniques. This advanced construction will make the car lighter and faster, giving it the opportunity to provide real competition for the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche.
The exterior design of the future generation R8 will be inspired by the E-Tron Concept, but the rest of the vehicle will carry almost identical features with an evolutionary styling theme and the absence of the current model’s sideblades and manual transmission. It will feature an aluminum structure, a long wheelbase, a roomy two-seat cabin, a mid-engined layout, and four-wheel drive. Despite these similarities, the next R8 will lose up to about 130 lbs from its total weight. This will be possible mainly because of the addition of some selected parts made of a new lightweight carbon-fiber and aluminum monocoque structure that is about 50 lbs lighter than the current one. Audi will also use plenty of carbon fiber elements for the transmission tunnel, floor, rear bulkhead, and B-pillars.
As is typical for the R8, the new generation will be offered in both V8 and V10 versions, with both receiving increased power and improved fuel economy. Rumors say that the V8 version will deliver 450 HP, the V10 version will deliver up to 550 HP, and that the fuel economy will come in at 25.7 mpg. The GT version will also see an increase to 580 HP. It has also been rumored that the engine will be mated to a dual-clutch transmission.
